Omegafriends Background:
Born as Yuko Nakahara, in the country of Japan, she was a member of a fairly well off family with a high social standing. As a child, she was treated well by a loving family.

At school, however, she often had a difficult time gaining friends, and as she grew older even her family grew somewhat distant due to work and minor financial issues. She was something of an introvert back then, somewhat unwilling to approach anybody. Yuko ended up turning to the computer when she had free time.

And as fate would have it, she came across a computer disk game on it from the West. It prompted her for a name during character generation, and thus she would name her avatar “Doomkitty” while picking the thief class. This was not a typical Western RPG, no, it also had adventure game elements where picking the wrong action could spell instant dea-... er, 'game over' for her.

Yuko was barely ten minutes into the game when she felt an odd urge to touch the screen... which she did, and found herself transported into the game. Obviously, it took her quite some time to adjust to being trapped in a fantasy-medieval world... but that was not the only issue. It was as if she really was in the game. Practically everybody responded to only specific keywords, and if she tried to talk about something outside the 'programming' of the world, they would only give generic responses of confusion. Due to the name she had picked before being brought to the world, everybody referred to her as Doomkitty. Eventually, she just couldn't help but identify with that as her real name. Everybody ignored her when she tried to tell them the name she was born with, after all.

It was also really weird having a disembodied voice narrate things for her.

And so, stuck in a strange dimension, what was she to do? It turned out she was meant to save the area from bandits! But it wouldn't be that easy... especially when she ended up d... er... got a “game over”! Her vision was filled with the option to restart, restore, or quit... still, despite her quick recovery by 'restoring', the experience would last with her forever.

There seemed to be no escape from the world she was in... except perhaps to fulfill the quest that was given to her. She eventually figured out how to interact with the world properly, and was soon victorious... though she did suffer more “game overs” along the way.

But that was not the end... she was given a respite, yes, but then she found herself sent to another region of the world... and given another quest. This went on for quite some time, always having to deal with another quest. She grew rather jaded with the whole thing as she foiled evil plot after evil plot. Doomkitty reached a point where she would even actively try to k-erm, “game over” some of the random friendly NPCs, which always without fail resulted in a quick game over for herself. It was also kind of a pain that each new “quest area” used a different coin system, thus forcing her to exchange the money and always ending up with considerably less.

Of course, such quests wouldn't be complete without upgrades in equipment. She learned a few spells as well despite having chosen thief, as she had put some points into magic during character creation.

However, Doomkitty found out early on in her time in that world that she was not the only one trapped there. At first, this other person seemed to act as just another NPC, but later interactions proved that this person, 'Himiko', was indeed just like her. Well, aside from the nine fox tails and other stuff. Unfortunately, it seemed that Himiko was assigned to the villain role, and so they were unable to talk with each other as much as Doomkitty would have liked.

After some time, the two did finally manage to escape somehow. Now free of the constraints that forced her to be hero, she... took up cat-burglary.

Affiliation: Independent. Except for her connection with Himiko, she's pretty much fulfilling the stereotypical role of the Cat Woman / Black Cat. And she's not going to fall in love with the Batman or Spiderman equivalent, either.

Personality:

Doomkitty has something of a broken personality, given her history in the “game” world. She's usually rather blunt in her speech, given that she's used to being able to just shout at quite a few people who don't even respond to her properly. She tends to be rather snide and sarcastic. Really, her social skills are a mess and she can easily come off as “catty”. That said, she is rather capable of carrying on a lie if she's trying to talk her way out of an unwanted situation.

Over all, she is rather fearless. She quite literally has no fear of dea-er, 'game overs', and after what she's gone through, pain is practically meaningless for her. It doesn't matter if you're a huge demon, a ten story tall gorilla, or what... she is not going to react to threats from any sort of thing in a way that seems to resemble real fear. Still, she doesn't enjoy dy-erm, game over-ing much and will probably complain.

For her broken personality, she certainly doesn't mind real company. People that are not mindless NPCs who only properly respond to keywords. If anything, she's been hoping for more people to interact with besides just Himiko. Still, it will be hard for her to adjust properly to such an environment, and will likely keep her blunt personality for some time.

As far as Himiko is concerned, Doomkitty has a sort of attachment to her given their extensive history. She was the only “real” person she's known for a long time, after all. Doomkitty has developed into an independent sort of person, however, and is certainly not at Himiko's beck and call should she decide to do her own thing; though she is likely to do what Himiko asks of her, whether immediately or eventually.

After 'restoring' from a game over, she may just kind of brush it off and act like it didn't happen. She may take a request from a friend or not, although she will most assuredly assist them if it's a life and death situation. Obviously, due to her special ability, she's willing to take a game over to save somebody.

Despite that and her long stint as a (forced) hero, however, Doomkitty really isn't particularly virtuous. She takes to her role as thief rather well, and isn't above stealing things from people, or even mugging them if she dislikes them. Indeed, that cloak she wears is something she stole from Himiko herself, after all!

Powers:
Doomkitty knows some... specific spells that she picked up over the course of her adventures. Nothing particularly powerful.
-Generic magic blast: Doomkitty can fire off a bolt of standard (or non-standard) elemental power. Ice, fire, lightning, or just a generic bolt of magic.
-Creepy Lights: Summons an odd aura of black light. Useful for either providing an odd light source or intimidation tactics.
-Protection: Provides questionable protection against both mundane and magic attempts of harm. Not particularly powerful in most cases.
-Healing: Provides a small boost in health, but she's not particularly good at this since it's not terribly useful for application on her self due to an odd power of hers.
-Flash: Causes a blinding flash of light. Not very useful against things that don't have vision.
-Shapeshift: Can shapeshift into the form of a black cat. Useful for sneaking, sleeping in normally uncomfortable spots, or just clawing somebody's furniture.

The odd stuff
-Save and Restore: A carry over from the game world she had been trapped in, but it always has been a little bugged. In the context of this game, a restored save will only affect her possessions, her physical condition, and her location. This won't always work, depending on whether the specific situation calls for it or not.

It should be noted that restoring after, say, just recently picking up a nice fork will make her lose possession of said fork. So she can't just sneak into a museum, snatch everything, and then use a load that puts her back at her hideout. Basically, if she wants to keep something, she can't restore a save that occurred before she acquired it. On the flip side, this also makes it difficult to take her stuff away.

-Narrator: She is also “haunted” by a bodiless narrator that sounds suspiciously like John Rhys-Davies. While Doomkitty has learned a 'trick' to prevent him from commenting on everything she so much as even looks at, he does manage to chime in with something now and then. But most importantly, without fail, should Doomkitty ever into any 'game-over' situation, he will chime in with a comment concerning what happened. Often something with a pun. He never will 'leave' Doomkitty's vicinity, as much as an insubstantial (and arguably not even self-aware) entity can. Doomkitty will hear him no matter what her condition, and if she hits a game over then her restore power is disabled until he is finished speaking. Also, those in Doomkitty's general vicinity will be able to hear the narrator speak. The narrator will never respond to any attempts to communicate directly with him.

All in all, she's not that powerful of an adversary in her own right in a head on confrontation, and is better suited to ambush attacks if it comes to having to fight. Of course, nameless mooks and law enforcement NPCs are another matter entirely.

-Unaging: Self-explanatory.

-”Inventory”: Doomkitty has an old Sierra adventure game style inventory. This basically means that if she can pick it up, she can make it disappear into said inventory. While she does have a weight limit, her movements will not be hindered so long as she stays within the limit.

Things like, say, large furniture (recliners and up) are out of the question.

Items of interest:
-A matching set of two magically enchanted daggers. There's no real power behind them that a normal set of combat knives wouldn't have beyond hurting things that would be immune to normal weaponry. Also, given the saturday morning cartoon nature of this game, she'll tend to default to kicks or hilt-smashes for some reason against fleshy people
-A few throwing knives, also magically enchanted, with the added benefit of returning to the thrower after … well, thrown. Potentially can be as dangerous to the user as it is to the target! But for some reason they'll always hit hilt first against fleshy targets...
-Cat Burglar kit: The things a modern day thief would need.
-Magic rope. Useful for getting across all sorts of obstacles, the rope can magically span empty space in whatever direction the user wishes and defies the laws of gravity. It is normally a mere five feet in length, but can become quite considerably longer. Not useful for people who have no knowledge of rope climbing.
-Cat-earred cloak. It provides some minor protection but it's just a clothing accessory thing really.

Notes: Notably, “Yuko Nakahara” disappeared back in the early '90s. It's likely that a database containing files on unsolved missing persons cases would have her on file.

Backtagging: Yesh
Threadhopping: Use common sense. If it makes sense to thread hop, sure. Comedic threads generally. If you're not sure if you belong there, send me a message.
Fourthwalling: Not really sure what you'd fourth wall her with. I'd prefer not.
Offensive subjects: Use common sense, but otherwise I'm hard to offend.

[IC]

Hugging this character: You can try, but she's not really open to hugs from most people.
Kissing this character: Same as kissing, except she's less likely to be receptive to most people.
Flirting with this character: Sure
Fighting with this character: Ya
Injuring this character: Injury and death is fine, but keep in mind that she's not just some innocent bystander. God-modding isn't cool, of course, unless you okay it with me first.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: If you mind control her, she might gameover and load out of it, depending on who you are. But for the most part, on telepathy as a whole, I'd prefer you message me first.

Are you okay with Canon Puncturing in regards to your character? (Having your character be told they are fictional IC)? (y/n) Puncture away.

Back to Doomkitty's “cattiness”, she can be talking to somebody one second and then just kind of lose interest in the middle of the conversation and wander off. After 'restoring' from a death, she may just kind of brush it off and act like it didn't happen. She may take a request from a friend or not, although she will most assuredly assist them if it's a life and death situation. Obviously, due to her inability to stay dead, she's quite willing to take a death for their sake. However, if it happens to be somebody she dislikes, she's not above toward pushing them closer to death.

Despite her title, Doomkitty really isn't particularly virtuous. She takes to her role as thief rather well, and isn't above stealing things from people, or even mugging them if she starts to dislike them. Indeed, that cloak she wears is something she stole from Himiko herself, after all!

Evilities:
Standard fantasy setting based thief skills
Climbing, acrobatics, lock-picking, pickpocketing, sneaking... standard thief stuff.

A bit of dabbling in magic
Doomkitty knows some... specific spells that she picked up over the course of her adventures. Nothing particularly powerful.
-Generic magic blast: Doomkitty can fire off a bolt of standard (or non-standard) elemental power. Ice, fire, lightning, or just a generic bolt of magic.

-Shapeshift: Can shapeshift into the form of a black cat. Useful for sneaking, sleeping in normally uncomfortable spots, or just clawing somebody's furniture.

The odd stuff
Save and Restore. A carry over from the game world she had been trapped in, but it always has been a little bugged. In the context of this game, it will allow her to regain HP, even recovering from death, as well as escaping what would normally be a “Game Over” situation (such as losing a limb, being brainwashed, or getting caught by the law to name a few examples). It won't always work, depending on whether the specific situation calls for it or not.

She is also “haunted” by a bodiless narrator that sounds suspiciously like John Rhys-Davies. While Doomkitty has learned a 'trick' to prevent him from commenting on everything she so much as even looks at, he does manage to chime in with something now and then. But most importantly, without fail, should Doomkitty ever 'die' or get into any 'game-over' situation, he will chime in with a comment concerning what happened. Often something with a pun. He never will 'leave' Doomkitty's vicinity, as much as an insubstantial (and arguably not even self-aware) entity can. Doomkitty will hear him no matter what her condition (dead or living), and if she is dead her restore power is disabled until he is finished speaking. Also, those in Doomkitty's general vicinity will be able to hear the narrator speak. The narrator will never respond to any attempts to communicate directly with him.

Inventory system: As typical of 90s adventure game mechanics, Doomkitty has an inventory with limitless space. Yes, that means she can stick a ladder or an anvil in there without it restricting her movements at all. She does have a weight limit, but it's exaggerated beyond the bounds of normal human capacity.

Lastly, due to the nature of the game world she was in and its effects on Doomkitty, she's effectively unaging.

Inventory:
Standard high level hero equipment, thief kit
-A matching set of two magically enchanted daggers. There's no real power behind them that a normal set of combat knives wouldn't have beyond hurting things that would be immune to normal weaponry.
-A few throwing knives, also magically enchanted, with the added benefit of returning to the thrower after … well, thrown. Potentially can be as dangerous to the user as it is to the target!
-Lockpicks. What kind of thief doesn't have lockpicks, seriously?
-Magic rope. Useful for getting across all sorts of obstacles, the rope can magically span empty space in whatever direction the user wishes and defies the laws of gravity. It is normally a mere five feet in length, but can expand up to fifty feet. Not useful for people who have no knowledge of rope climbing.

-School outfit. For some reason it hasn't been affected by anything she equips, except for two things:
-Cat-earred cloak. It provides some minor protection but it's just a thing really.
-Formal wear: A gothic lolita outfit, which is a thing that she obviously won't be wearing at the same time as either of the previous articles of clothing.

Currency: Didn't end up with much after changing her money over to HL, sadly...

Notes: Nyan!
